Vestry Liaison Update: Finance

2019 was a strong year for Gracious Giving, which embraces the spirit of our pledge campaign and the generous nature of our parish family. 2019 pledge collection totaled $541,409.98. The 2020 January report to the Vestry included 159 pledges for 2020 totaling $559,155.47, nearly a $25,000 increase over what was pledged in 2019. We are grateful to Doug and Susan Burgoyne for their leadership of the stewardship committee and the campaign.

Our wardens worked hard to look for cost-savings, enlisting skilled volunteers to repaint the parish hall, working on pro-bono replacement of our ceiling lights with energy-efficient LED lighting, and renegotiating our waste contract for significant savings.

The vestry approved $10,000 in church funds for the Outreach Committee to designate to recipients of its choosing throughout the year. From Belize to the Bahamas, to LINK and THRIVE, these funds traveled the world and stayed right at home to help those in need.

Our Lackey Fund committee, led by Diana Skelton, called for grant submissions in the fall, and continued Carolyn Lackey’s legacy by granting $22,000 in funds to the following local organizations:

  • Grove Christian Outreach Center - $2,000
  • Holy Cross Anglican School - $2,200
  • Kairos-Grace Inside - $1500
  • LINK/PORT - $4000
  • Newsome Bailey - $2,000
  • Self Protection Awareness (SPA) – $1,500
  • Smart Beginnings - $1,800
  • Soundscapes - $1,500
  • THRIVE Peninsula – $2,000
  • Tom/Ann Hunnicutt Family YMCA – $1,000
  • Youth Volunteer Corps - $2,500
